About Futuresmart Academy
“There is no such thing as a perfect school, only a perfect fit for every child.”
– Marianne Bezuidenhout
Our journey
In 2022, we saw the need to accommodate Neurodiverse learners on the ASD spectrum. Futuresmart Academy was created in 2023 as a sister school of Edusmart Academy.
Futuresmart is a learning hub for learners with Special Educational Needs. The traditional education system overstimulates these learners; therefore, we follow a blended learning model which adapts to the needs of learners on the Spectrum. We especially accommodate neurodiverse learners diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as learners with extreme anxiety.
Learners are accommodated in small groups of 10 -12, and dedicated staff members help create an environment where these learners can flourish and learn to self-regulate while they learn. We focus on skills development, primarily through Art, Music, Chess, Drumming, Robotics – part of our Science Technology, Economics, Arts & Mathematics (STEAM) programme – which instills a calm atmosphere and rebuilds confidence lost in the mainstream education system.
We focus on enabling learners to find their ideal learning style and celebrate their strengths. As of 2026, our learners have the opportunity to continue their high school career at our high school, Edusmart College.
We are a Christian-based school that accepts, welcomes, respects and embraces learners of diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
Our typical learner profile is that of a learner whose learning profile includes the so-called “silent barriers to learning”, such as ADD (ADHD), Tourette’s, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, or a learner who simply needs a smaller classroom environment to grow in academic, personal and socio-emotional confidence.
