Jamie G

Jamie Gardiner

School Physcologist

I am a registered Counselling Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), and I hold a Master’s degree in Community-Based Counselling Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand.

My interest in psychology is rooted in understanding people, especially children, and how their environments shape emotional and psychological development. I aim to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where individuals feel comfortable to explore what they are going through. I work from a relational and process-oriented perspective, focusing on helping individuals build self-awareness, develop practical coping tools, and work towards meaningful change at their own pace.

In the school setting, I provide psychological support focused on learners’ emotional well-being, social development, and resilience. This includes play therapy, a developmentally appropriate and evidence-based approach that helps children express emotions, process experiences, and build coping skills through play. I also offer parental guidance, working with caregivers to provide insight, support, and practical strategies that strengthen the parent–child relationship and promote positive development at home.
